Academic Board Member

Aspire Higher Education is seeking two dynamic individuals to join our newly established Board. As a member of the Board, you will play a pivotal role in influencing the academic direction of our organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategise and govern academic pursuits, ensuring course integrity and educational excellence.
2. Scrutinise and endorse courses.
3. Develop and implement academic policies, benchmarking, and risk mitigation.
4. Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory standards, including oversight of disciplinary measures.
5. Promote academic integrity and monitor educational quality.
6. Create committees to support the Academic Board's functions.
7. Ensure student welfare and support scholastic progression.
8. Report to the governing board regularly.

Expected Workload:
1. Attendance in academic board meetings conducted every month until application lodgement to TEQSA. The workload will be revised after lodgement. (maximum scheduled meeting duration: 2 hours)
2. The meetings will usually be conducted virtually and face to face on request.
3. Preparation that includes reading meeting papers for each academic board meeting.
4. Provide feedback after each academic board meeting if required.

Location:
Aspire Higher Education is based in Melbourne however our team is located across Australia and works remotely.

Remuneration:
Compensation is made for attendance at each meeting and is consistent with the current market.

Aspire Higher Education is an early-stage higher education start-up created by people who are passionate about empowering individuals to explore and reach their full potential.

We are on a mission to create a holistic educational environment and foster productive working alliances with our communities and stakeholders. Our current focus is on understanding the education and skill needs of the early childhood education and care sector as we work towards developing our application for registration with TEQSA as an Institute of Higher Education.

Selection Criteria

Qualifications:
1. Demonstrated experience in higher education governance and course accreditation applications to TEQSA.
2. PhD in Early Childhood education or related disciplines.
3. Extensive track record in academia for over a decade.
